The way to the large cascade (waterfall) and to the boat harbour separated parts of the gardens from the ages of the Emperors Josephine and Franz. Today, though, these are intermingled. Here too the different ideas of garden landscaping reveal themselves, as has already been described.
The large cascade (large waterfall) is located at the eastern end of the canal called the Fortmeisterkanal and flows into the pond landscape. Together with the romantic small waterfall, it was a major place of interest for its contemporaries. It still reflected the age of the baroque, when the might of water was captured in the architecture of the period. The Sphinx bridge and the harbour both probably date from the late 18th century and separate two worlds of landscaping, that of impressive geometry and that of the gentle pond landscape.
