An emperor’s dream castle

An ideal knight’s castle like Franzensburg naturally also includes a befitting battlement and a keep. This battlement and the climb to the keep, the so-called “High Tower”, were already extremely popular guided routes in the 19th century. The battlement, also known as the “Murder Gallery”, leads over the entire roof landscape of the castle past mystical components such as the “Old Bailiwick” or the “Burgpfaffenwohnung”. From the “High Tower” you can enjoy a breathtaking 360° panoramic view. From the Leithagebirge and Rosaliengebirge to the Schneeberg, the high wall, the Vienna Forest to the Kahlenberg and Leopoldsberg, you can see deep insights into the surrounding landscape.
